I have been a personal trainer since 2002. After doing a degree in Chemistry, I bounced around a few office jobs that I hated and a very dangerous chemical plant (see here>>). After this, I retrained to become a personal trainer and never looked back.
I have written three books; –

My Sports Background
I spent most of my life competing in Athletics (400m – 53.4 Pb) and playing Rugby (various clubs including Esher and London Welsh). Later, I shifted my focus to Fitness Model and Bodybuilding Physique shows. I competed in shows in 2014, 2019 & 2021. These days I focus on Hybrid fitness events such as Hyrox.
Studying & Experience
After qualifying in personal training and sports massage, I’ve continued to build knowledge across exercise, nutrition, and behaviour change. I was the first trainer in the UK to combine Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) with exercise and nutrition.
I’ve worked with stroke rehabilitation, and I was the fitness coach for the Swedish Rugby team for a year.
I’m always learning in some way, then apply this knowledge it to real people with a variety of different challenges to hone my skills. A summary of areas I’ve studied is shown below.

I have been on various TV shows over the years, including the BBC Breakfast show, Channel 5 News and CNN. Some highlights of these can be seen below.
Current Fitness Focus
I now participate in Hyrox and other hybrid fitness events. I find these help you develop a broad fitness range compared to my bodybuilding days. I have done 12 Hyrox events in various countries. I also have a Friday night hybrid fitness group focused on getting ready for these types of pursuits.
